Hush! Hibernating black grouse
It is the highest nature reserve in France and the only protected area in the Mont-Blanc massif. Culminating at an altitude of 1,000 to 4,000 m, the Contamines-Montjoie Nature Reserve offers all the landscapes, from the forest to the glacier, as well as a great diversity of species. Among them, the black grouse, a bird of the Alps well represented in Contamines-Montjoie and letting itself be buried in snow igloos in order to rest during the winter. To walk without risking disturbing the rest of the bird of the country, follow the signs indicating the areas to be avoided.
